Fall Classic Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series averaged 15.71M viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings after the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
